Leave the town. Come back.

A small town running in your browser on the engine's own rules: the same random draw and the same UK 2019 tables as the replayable trace in Research. Step a year, or leave for ten and see who is still here.

The gate

An update has to earn its place.

A candidate way of working is compared with the current one on the same items. It is adopted only if the evidence clears the bar; otherwise it is refused.

The town runs entirely in your browser. Births, deaths, separations and leaving home follow the engine's rules and the published tables exactly; partnership is simplified to one place, and its rates are illustrative, as in the trace. Names are generated. The gate shows the rule on simulated items; the engine applies it to real checks. Every record is chained with SHA-256 as it is written.
