Met200,000 lives x 10 runs; 10,000,000 lives
The test at a glance
- What it tests
- Speed and correctness: touching a life only when something happens to it.
- Data
- Simulated lives on UK 2019 tables with placeholder partnership rates: 10 runs of 200,000 lives x 120 months; 10,000,000 lives on one thread for speed.
- Held out
- Not a held-out test.
- Compared against
- Stepping every life every month (the monthly engine).
- Bar
- Every count within twice the combined standard error of the monthly engine; the speed-up reported either way.
- Result
- All counts equivalent; 4.0 times faster per thread including scheduling.
Touching a life only when something happens to it runs 4 times faster per thread and gives the same births, deaths, partnerships and separations as stepping every life every month. Tested: 10 runs of 200,000 lives for equivalence, all within the registered bound, and 10 million lives for speed.
