Met7,869 held-out measurements
The test at a glance
- What it tests
- Accuracy against reality: reverberation in room arrangements outside the range learned from.
- Data
- Arni variable-acoustics room: measured T30 per octave band for each panel configuration and receiver.
- Held out
- The 15% of configurations with the fewest absorptive panels and the 15% with the most: 7,869 measurements.
- Compared against
- Memory alone: the 10 nearest training measurements.
- Bar
- Sign test p < 0.05 AND the 95% interval of the mean score difference above zero.
- Result
- +0.138 (0.134 to 0.142), ahead on 6,846 of 7,869: met.
Living Worlds predicts how a room sounds in arrangements beyond the range it learned from. In a real variable-acoustics room, fitted on the middle 70% of configurations, it beat memory alone on the 15% at each end by +0.138 (95% interval 0.134 to 0.142), winning 6,846 of 7,869 held-out measurements. Registered; no run had read the ends before scoring.
