People around a working robot, on days nobody had opened

Met (7 of 8)eight recordings, a robot among people carrying loads

The test at a glance

What it tests
Accuracy against reality: how close real people came to a real robot, with the robot on its recorded path.
Data
THÖR-MAGNI v1.1 (Zenodo 10554472), people carrying loads around a robot.
Held out
Eight recordings from two days, split off before any trajectory was opened.
Compared against
A crowd blind to the robot; straight walkers.
Bar
Closest-approach error below both, in at least 5 of 8 recordings.
Result
7 of 8.

Living Worlds put a robot into its crowd and predicted how close real people came to a real robot, in a room where visitors carried boxes, buckets and large objects, on two recording days nobody here had opened. With the robot on its recorded path, its people's closest approach to the robot was nearer the real one than for a crowd blind to the robot and for people who ignore it, in 7 of 8 recordings. Registered before the data was read; scored once. Data: THÖR-MAGNI, cited with thanks.
