Population scale, on CPU cores

Met250,000,000 lives, 12 months; 10 seeds for equivalence

The test at a glance

What it tests
Speed and correctness. Simple lives, as in the GPU test.
Data
250,000,000 simulated lives x 12 months for speed; 200,000 lives x 120 months x 10 seeds for equivalence.
Held out
Not a held-out test: speed, and equality with the registered GPU run.
Compared against
The registered GPU run, seed by seed.
Bar
Every seed identical AND at least 10^9 life-months a second at 250,000,000 lives.
Result
1.69 x 10^9 on the second registered run; the first reached 5.0 x 10^8.

On one desktop processor (an Intel Core i7-14700F, 28 threads, 32 GB), Living Worlds advanced 250 million lives at 1.69 x 10^9 life-months a second, past the registered 10^9, with every count of all 10 seeds identical to the registered GPU run. Registered before each run; both registered runs are published. The first reached 5.0 x 10^8 and the second changed only two launch settings; an earlier shared server carried a billion lives at 2.2 x 10^8, and a billion at the new rate on one machine is the next run.
