Crowds among shoppers, a day nobody had opened

Met (6 of 6)six windows of one day, a shopping centre in Osaka

The test at a glance

What it tests
Accuracy against reality on the same four crowd measures.
Data
ATC shopping centre tracking, Osaka: 14 Nov 2012 for development; six 180-second windows of 18 Nov 2012 scored.
Held out
The whole of 18 Nov 2012.
Compared against
Social force, and straight walkers (ORCA scored alongside).
Bar
Lower rank sum than both in at least 5 of 6 windows.
Result
6 of 6.

Among real shoppers in the ATC shopping centre in Osaka, the same crowd, unchanged, beat both social force and people who ignore each other on walking speed, spacing, path straightness and close contacts in all six three-minute windows of the day, where five were needed. Shoppers wander, so where they enter and leave says little about their path: a harder test than a corridor. Registered before this day was opened; shoppers tracked by range sensors.
